Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stressed that the living conditions in Lebanon are not exacerbating because the government is not convening, adding that the main reason of the crisis is that the judicial investigator into Beirut Port blast, Tarek Al-Bitar, in infringing on the powers of the parliament.
In this regard, Sheikh Qassem indicated that the political forces must cooperate to find a solution which can be reached via either the parliament, or the government, or the judiciary itself.
Al-Bitar had issued arrest warrants against officials as well as military figures on an illogical basis, pushing the defendants and observers to cast doubts on his probe.
In this concern, the families of the arrested held on Friday a press conference to demand the release of their relatives, calling on Judge Bitar to keep the political disputes away from the investigations into the port blast.
On August 4, 2020, a massive blast rocked Beirut Port blast, killing around 196 citizens and injuring over 6000 of others. The explosion also caused much destruction in the capital and its suburbs.
Addressing an educational ceremony, Sheikh Qassem affirmed that Hezbollah electoral program will be based on protecting the Resistance, addressing the socioeconomic crisis and fighting corruption.
For his part, the member of Hezbollah Central Council, Sheikh Nabil Qawook, emphasized that the US administration wants to change Lebanon’s political situation, calling on the Lebanese to address the unprecedented crisis instead of engaging in political disputes.
