President Michel Aoun met Monday at Baabda palace with Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Zaki said he held positive talks with the President, and that he would visit Saudi Arabia if needed.
Zaki later visited the House Speaker Nabih Berri at his Ain-el-Tineh residence, discussing with him the latest diplomatic crisis between Lebanon and the Gulf countries.
For his part, Prime Minister Najib Mikati welcomed Zaki at the Grand Serai, underling that Lebanon is keen on returning relations with KSA and the Gulf to normalcy.
“Lebanon will endeavor to resolve the differences,” he said, “The Arab League can play a crucial role in that respect.”
Zaki also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, highlighting in a joint press conference the necessity to “continue to work hard because the relationship between Lebanon and the Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia, is old and entrenched”.
