President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, received a phone call this afternoon from his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, and discussed with him the results of the hypothetical conference, which was held yesterday in Paris, in support of Beirut and the Lebanese people.
President Aoun thanked President Macron for the efforts he exerted to convene this conference, which was successful due to the response of Presidents, Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers who participated, in addition to Directors of global and regional financial institutions.
Both Presidents agreed to continue communication, in order to follow-up on the implementation of the conference’s agreements, and to coordinate the pledges of participant countries. The discussion also tackled the Lebanese situation, recent political developments and methods of dealing with these developments.

President Aoun also received a condoling and support cable from Portuguese President, Marcelo Rabelo De Sousa, in which he expressed Portuguese affection, President and people, for the recent Beirut explosion on 4th of August, and affirmed his country’s stand next to Lebanon and its people in this ordeal.
