The Head of Yemen’s Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi lashed out at the United States over its role in the ongoing aggression on the Arab impoverished country.
“The entire world knows the clear stance of the US: Washington doesn’t want to stop the war on Yemen,” al-Houthi said Wednesday in a statement.
The Yemeni official was responding to US remarks on a report by the CNN, which said that some of the US sold weapons to the Saudis and Emiratis are now in the hands of al Qaeda-linked fighters, hardline Salafi militias, and other groups on the ground.
Commenting on the CNN report, Gen. Joseph Votel, the head of Central Command (CENTCOM), said Washington has “not authorized Saudi Arabia or the Emirates to retransfer any of this equipment to other parties on the ground in Yemen.”
At a Senate hearing on Tuesday, the top US military commander in the Middle East suggested that America would continue to back its allies waging war in Yemen.
Al-Houthi said remarks by the US command on the American weapons are “unconvincing, since it had officially announced its support to the aggression on Yemen.
“The announcement that weapons have been transferred to another parties in the conflict is not new issue,” al-Houthi said, noting that Washington through these remarks “is just trying to ease the shock inflicted upon the American intellectuals who oppose the war in Yemen.”
Al-Houthi described the US remarks as “intelligence scandal”, stressing that the US is responsible for the killings in Yemeni.
“Transferring arms without conditions drops US’ right to monitor arms manufacturing states.”
