Lebanese Gov’t “Hanged Head in Shame” by Signing Deal with ‘Israel’: Ex-Hezbollah Minister

Mustafa Bayram, former labor minister representing Hezbollah in a memorial service in the southern Lebanese town of Jbaa (June 29,2026).

Former Hezbollah Minister Mustafa Bayram lashed out at the Lebanese Government over signing the so-called framework agreement with the Israeli enemy, describing it as an “agreement of humiliation and disgrace written by (Israeli PM) Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Speaking at a memorial ceremony for martyrs in the town of Jbaa, Bayram said the government “hanged its head in shame” by signing the deal, stressing that its role was reduced to “this humiliating signature.”

He added that Iran “made Lebanon the first item on the MoU signed with the US, not to negotiate on behalf of Lebanon but rather to place it under a protective umbrella” aimed at reaching adeal on Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

He slammed the government over rejecting the Iranian support, accusing it of having the resistance as a “common enemy” with ‘Israel’.

Bayram questioned, “Where is the constitution and where is the Lebanese law?” arguing that Lebanon’s founding texts clearly define ‘Israel’ as an enemy. He said the constitution refers to the UN Charter, “which guarantees the right of peoples to self-determination,” while the National Accord Document and Arab human rights frameworks affirm “the right to resist occupation,” adding that Lebanese law “criminalizes any form of dealings with Israel.”

He further accused the government of having “overturned the constitution, the law, and national consensus, criminalized resistance on its own land, and adopted a Zionist decision that legitimizes the continued occupation and its aggression.”

The former labor minister warned that “the Zionist ink will fade, just as the humiliating signature will fade, and whoever ties themselves to the Zionist project will depart with it.”

He stressed that the resistance “will not operate according to Israeli will,” affirming it relies on “its finger on the trigger, and that no occupation can remain on land where there is resistance,” alongside what he described as “the priority of the first clause in the Iranian-American understanding related to Lebanon’s sovereignty and security.”

He concluded by describing the authorities’ actions as “a betrayal of the constitution, a blow to the Taif Accords and national accord, a violation of the rights of the people, and a coup against the sacrifices and interests of the people,” adding that any authority not representing the Lebanese people is “a fallen and temporary authority.”

He stressed that “if it betrays this representation and abandons sovereignty, then the people will reclaim it and withdraw legitimacy from those who do not deserve it.”
