An Israeli soldier was killed and three others were wounded in a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon overnight, the occupation military announced on Monday.

The slain soldier was identified as a staff sergeant of the Commando Brigade’s Maglan Unit, from Rosh Haayin.

At around 1 a.m., an explosive-laden first-person view drone launched by Hezbollah struck a site in the southern Lebanon town of Yohmor, near the Beaufort Castle, where Israeli troops were operating, the occupation army announce, referring to Qal’at Al-Shaqeef.

The blast killed the soldier and wounded another soldier seriously. Two other troops were lightly hurt in the attack, the occupation army clarified, adding that the wounded soldiers were airlifted to a hospital.

The Israeli army, meanwhile, revised the casualty toll in southern Lebanon, saying it rose to 26 killed and 1,180 wounded since March 2.

Hezbollah has increasingly relied on explosive drones, especially FPV (first-person view) types, as a central battlefield tool. Israeli and external analyses describe this strategy as part of a “war of attrition”, targeting troops, vehicles, and logistics to gradually erode effectiveness.
