Foreign Press Association Expresses Profound Disappointment over Israeli Ban on Gaza Media Access

The Foreign Press Association expressed on Tuesday its profound disappointment after the Israeli occupation government told the High Court of Justice that a ban on international media access to Gaza should remain in place due to security risks in the enclave.

“Instead of presenting a plan for allowing journalists into Gaza independently and letting us work alongside our brave Palestinian colleagues, the government has decided once again to lock us out. This comes even when a ceasefire is now in place,” the FPA said.

The FPA said it will submit a “robust” response.

“The FPA is confident that the court will provide justice in light of the continuous infringement of the fundamental principles of freedom of speech, the public’s right to know and free press,” the FPA says.

Health Ministry in Gaza said that at least 420 Palestinians have been martyred by Israeli occupation since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli war in October 2023, Israeli occupation authorities have barred foreign journalists from independently entering the devastated enclave.

Instead, the occupation authorities has allowed only a limited number of foreign reporters to enter Gaza on a case-by-case basis, embedded with its military forces operating inside the Strip. While Israeli journalists have been granted more opportunities to enter the enclave, they too must be embedded with troops to go in.

The FPA, which represents hundreds of foreign journalists working in the Zionist entity, the West Bank and Gaza, filed a petition with the High Court in 2024 seeking immediate and unrestricted access to the Gaza Strip for international media.
