President Joseph Aoun marked International Workers’ Day by saluting laborers across Lebanon, commending their daily efforts and continued sacrifices in sustaining the nation and safeguarding its dignity amid mounting challenges.
In a statement, Aoun acknowledged that Lebanon is facing severe and exceptional conditions that have weighed heavily on citizens, with workers shouldering the greatest burden. He stressed his awareness of the intense pressures they endure — from struggling to secure basic livelihoods to coping with the fallout of successive economic crises.

Highlighting their resilience, Aoun praised workers for their determination to persevere and remain productive despite adversity, describing them as the backbone of the Lebanese economy.
He added that “coordinated efforts with the government are underway to advance reforms aimed at improving economic conditions and restoring stability, despite the complications resulting from the recent war.”

He underscored the commitment to “reconstruction, rebuilding confidence, and generating employment opportunities.”
Aoun said he and the government “will continue working to enhance workers’ conditions by protecting their rights, strengthening social safety nets, and ensuring a fair and dignified work environment,” stressing that workers “remain the foundation of any meaningful economic recovery.”
