The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran issued a solemn statement mourning the martyrdom of Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, describing him as “the towering divine scholar, leader of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, and master of the martyrs of the Awaited Imam Mahdi.”
The statement noted that his martyrdom “during the blessed month of Ramadan” represents a profound loss for both the Islamic nation and the Iranian nation.
The statement opened with the Quranic verse: “Do not think of those who have been killed in the way of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.”
The IRGC extended “the highest expressions of condolence and congratulations” to Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), the Islamic Ummah, religious scholars, and the Iranian people.
A Martyr Honored by God
The IRGC affirmed that Imam Khamenei “attained the honor of martyrdom,” noting that his death “at the hands of the most wretched terrorists and executioners of humanity” serves as proof of the righteousness of this great leader and the acceptance of his devoted and selfless service.
The statement described the martyred leader as “unique in his era for purity of spirit, strength of faith, wise governance, courage in confronting the arrogant, and steadfast struggle in the path of God.”
It emphasized that “martyrdom in the cause of Islam and dear Iran is a mark of victory and a step closer to the ultimate goal,” stressing that Imam Khamenei’s passing “will not halt his path or legacy but will continue with strength and dignity” and that this event “will further strengthen the Iranian people’s determination to follow the luminous path of their beloved Leader.”
Accusation and Vow of Retribution
The IRGC directly accused the “malicious governments of the United States and the Zionist regime” of committing this “terrorist act,” describing it as a “blatant violation of religious, ethical, legal, and customary norms.”
The statement vowed that “the hand of Iranian retribution remains extended, and the perpetrators of the Imam of the Ummah will not escape severe, decisive, and deterrent punishment.”
It affirmed that the IRGC, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, and the Basij (Popular Mobilization Forces) will continue “firmly along the path of their Leader, defending the precious legacy of this great figure,” pledging to confront “internal and external conspiracies and to punish aggressors against the Islamic homeland with decisive and exemplary measures.”
The statement concluded with a call for “all segments of society to participate actively and passionately in the national defense arenas” to showcase “national unity and cohesion to the world” and “expose the malicious and terrorist enemies of the Iranian people.”
