Lebanon: Tripoli Witnesses Second Building Collapse in One Month, Health Minister Orders Free Treatment

An inhabited building in Bab Al-Tabbanah area, northern city of Tripoli, collapsed on Sunday, marking the second case in one month.

Mayor of Tripoli said that the building collapse left six martyrs and seven injuries, placing the resignation of municipal council at the interior minister’s disposal.

It is worth noting that hundreds of buildings in Tripoli City are dilapidated and on the verge of collapse.

Immediately after the disastrous incident, the medics, ambulances and relief staff moved to the scene in order to save the inhabitants

Health minister Rakan Nassereddine ordered hospitals to treat the injured by the collapse at the expense of the ministry.

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun reviewed with the interior minister the developments of the incident, and prime minister Nawaf Salam ordered the head of the Disaster Management Unit at the Premiership office to go to Tripoli and follow up the issue of the collapsed building.
