Eight F-15 fighter jets were damaged and an A-10 Thunderbolt was hit and lost a wing in Iranian strikes on a US air base in Jordan, according to a report by the American CBS network.
The disclosure came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced on Wednesday that it had launched intensive and decisive missile strikes against the US “Al-Azraq” base in Jordan, in retaliation for what it described as US aggression targeting Iranian oil tankers. The Guard said the operation was carried out using solid- and liquid-fueled ballistic missiles.
In a statement, the Revolutionary Guard explained that the missile strikes directly targeted hangars used for the maintenance, servicing, and deployment of US military F-35, F-16, and F-15 fighter jets stationed at the base.
