The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) went on the rampage through the town of Anata and the refugee camp of Shuafat in the northeast of Jerusalem, destroying property and kidnaping several Palestinian citizens from homes.
According to local sources, a significant contingent of Israeli troops, accompanied by military vehicles and bulldozers, swept into the densely populated areas, fanning out across neighborhoods and main thoroughfares. Soldiers imposed an immediate curfew, broadcasting the order via loudspeakers while sealing off all entrances to both Anata and Shuafat camp, effectively trapping residents inside.
Witnesses reported that troops forcibly broke into homes and commercial establishments, subjecting them to extensive searches. Soldiers allegedly forced open the doors of several stores and shops, damaging merchandise and ransacking interiors during the operations.
In a particularly aggressive move, Israeli occupation forces reportedly detained dozens of citizens, including at least one woman, pulling them from their residences. One home was commandeered and converted into an on-site interrogation center, according to local accounts, underscoring the intensity of the incursion.
The operation also inflicted significant damage on civilian infrastructure. IOF bulldozers were seen destroying major water pipelines in Anata, severing water supplies to numerous homes and compounding the suffering of residents already reeling from the raid.
In a separate incident northwest of Occupied Jerusalem, a Palestinian vehicle was damaged after extremist Jewish settlers pelted it with stones while it was passing through the tunnel connecting the towns of al-Jib and Biddu. No injuries were immediately reported, but the attack added to a climate of escalating settler violence across the West Bank.
The developments come amid a broader surge in Israeli military operations and settler-led attacks throughout the occupied territories. In a related context, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi strongly condemned the killing of 20-year-old Omar Tubasi during an IOF-backed settler assault on the town of Hajja in eastern Qalqilya on Sunday evening.
Mardawi characterized the fatal shooting of Tubasi as part of a systematic pattern, describing the killing of Palestinians by both settlers and soldiers in the West Bank as “part of the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.”
“Israeli terrorism will not succeed in driving the Palestinians out of their land,” Mardawi asserted in a statement, urging Palestinians across all political factions to unite in defense of themselves and their territory.
The raid on Anata and Shuafat, along with the rising toll of settler violence, has drawn sharp condemnation from Palestinian officials, who accuse Israel of exploiting the ongoing war in Gaza to intensify its crackdown in the West Bank. With no immediate letup in sight, tensions across the occupied territories continue to soar, raising fears of further escalation in the days ahead.
