The spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said Iran will continue to exercise full authority over the Strait of Hormuz, saying the United States is jeopardizing global energy security through its actions in the strategic waterway.
In a post on X, IRGC spokesman Brig. General Mohsen Mohebi said the United States had placed global oil and gas supplies at serious risk by interfering in the Strait of Hormuz and “must be held accountable.”
“Iran will continue to assert its sovereignty and authority over the Strait of Hormuz with strength and determination, and will compel foreign powers and their allies to yield to the will of the Iranian nation,” he wrote.
General Mohebi also said Iran had forced the United States to scale back its initial objectives during its aggression against to focusing on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
“As we reduced the delusional objectives of US leaders at the outset of their aggression to reopening the Strait of Hormuz, we will leave them even more humiliated and helpless in the face of their latest act of hostility,” he said.
