Hezbollah Mourns Former Qatari Emir, Praises His Support for Resistance

Hezbollah Statements

Hezbollah extended on Sunday its condolences to Qatar over the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, praising his support for Lebanon, the Palestinian cause, and the resistance.

In a statement, the group offered its “deepest condolences” to the State of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari government, and the Qatari people, praying for the late emir’s mercy and expressing sympathy to his family.

The group said it remembered the late emir’s “prominent role” in supporting Lebanon and standing by its people during difficult periods, highlighting Qatar’s backing under his leadership for the resistance during the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, as well as its widely recognized contribution to rebuilding villages and homes destroyed in the conflict.

Hezbollah also recalled Sheikh Hamad’s visit to Beirut’s southern suburbs and the southern Lebanese city of Bint Jbeil following the war, saying it reflected his loyalty and affection for the Lebanese people.

The group further praised the late emir’s support for Arab and Islamic causes, particularly the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to resist Israeli occupation in order to reclaim their rights, land, and holy sites.
