Framework Agreement Entrenches Israeli Occupation of Southern Lebanon: Hezbollah MP

Hezbollah MP Hasan Fadlallah during a local ceremony (Friday, June 12, 2026).

Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Hasan Fadlallah said the US-backed “framework agreement” between Lebanon and the Israeli regime has entrenched the Israeli occupation of the Lebanese territory, arguing that the solution lies in preserving what he described as Lebanon’s legitimate rights and national interests.

Speaking at a memorial ceremony for Hezbollah fighters from the southern Lebanese town of Markaba, MP Fadlallah said recent mass funeral ceremonies in Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon for late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei sent a message of continued commitment to resistance and regional causes.

He described the turnout as “a historic message” reflecting adherence to principles despite pressure and military campaigns by the US and ‘Israel’.

Addressing Lebanon’s southern front, MP Fadlallah said Hezbollah was operating across three tracks: the battlefield, people of Resistance, and backing from Iran.

The Lebanese lawmaker vowed that the resistance would continue defending southern Lebanon, stressing that “after all these sacrifices, the resistance leadership has decided to uphold this legitimate right and will not relinquish it.”

MP Fadlallah also pointed to Israeli enemy’s intention to evade its obligations under ceasefire arrangements, stressing that Iran’s position has been that no final agreement with the US can be reached without a complete Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

“There are currently no direct negotiations,” he said, adding that “if the United States wants an agreement, no result can be achieved unless the enemy withdraws from Lebanon.”

Turning to the Lebanese government’s framework agreement, MP Fadlallah criticized the deal as failing to protect Lebanese interests, claiming it “entrenches the occupation, compromises sovereignty, and places Lebanon under American-Israeli tutelage.”

He further argued that the agreement could restrict Lebanon’s ability to pursue legal action over Israeli violations, saying it provides ‘Israel’ with justification for its continued attacks.

The Hezbollah lawmaker called for a return to national consensus, urging Lebanese authorities to reconsider the agreement and prioritize internal unity. He said the way forward requires “returning to national understandings and cooperation among the main forces in Lebanon” while adhering to constitutional principles and national agreements.
