Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt stated that “the framework agreement is a unilateral agreement dictated by ‘Israel’ to a Lebanese faction, both inside and outside the country, with limited experience in law and diplomacy.”
He added, “The principle of withdrawal is mentioned in all international treaties except for the framework agreement, and this is what we have reached because the country has been handed over to groups with no legal expertise.” He emphasized that “peace with Israel is impossible.”
During a speech at a meeting of the Druze Religious Council, he explained that “this treaty is an imposition, and it does not mention Israeli withdrawal. This is what happens when the fate of the country is entrusted to groups with no experience in international politics and whose only concern is power.”
He continued, “I call on the state, if it has the resources, to prepare new shelters in the south, even though they have rejected this proposal and continue to do so.”
