    Iran’s Gharibabadi Warns Against Military “Adventurism” in Strait of Hormuz

      Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi has warned against the consequences of any military adventurism in the Strait of Hormuz.

      In response to the joint statement by France and the United Kingdom regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Gharibabadi said in an X message that the Strait of Hormuz should not serve as a stage for military displays by trans-regional countries.

      Iran, as the responsible power and guarantor of the Strait’s security, warns against any military movement in this sensitive waterway, he added.

      Emphasizing that the security of Hormuz rests with the littoral states, he said, “Those responsible for provoking crises will be held liable for the outcomes of their risk-taking; this constitutes a serious caution.”

      The UK Prime Minister’s Office on Friday released a joint statement by Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, and Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, in which the two sides described the Strait of Hormuz as the vital artery of the global economy and declared that restoring the safe passage of ships from all countries through this waterway is a global issue.

      The statement also claimed that Oman has agreed to cooperate with the UK and France to secure its territorial waters against shipping risks.

      London and Paris expressed their readiness to deploy what they called a “wider multinational military mission,” claiming that this action would be taken to support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
