In a chilling display of aggression, Israeli occupation forces stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, early this Friday morning, forcibly evacuating medical staff and patients and detaining a large number of individuals present at the facility.

According to Hussam Abu Safiya, the head of Kamal Adwan Hospital, the situation inside and around the hospital was “catastrophic.” He reported that there were scores of casualties, including four martyrs from the hospital’s medical staff. “No surgeons are left,” he warned, adding that the only medical team performing operations, a delegation from Indonesia, was the first to be forced to leave toward a checkpoint.

Abu Safiya detailed the series of events, stating that the hospital first came under a barrage of airstrikes and heavy, direct fire on its northern and western sides, though fortunately without any injuries inside the facility. However, the situation quickly escalated, as two individuals entered the hospital with a loudspeaker, ordering the evacuation of all patients, displaced persons, and medical staff to the hospital yard, where they were forcibly removed to a nearby checkpoint.

The medical chief lamented the dire consequences of the attack, noting that medical supplies are running out and there are hundreds of victims. “The oxygen generators were targeted at night, and now there are only two inexperienced surgeons available to operate on patients,” he said, adding that they were forced to start operations despite their lack of experience, as there were 20 wounded individuals who needed urgent care.

Simultaneously, Israeli occupation forces demolished a residential block near the hospital, resulting in the killing of at least 30 Palestinians and injuring dozens more. The explosion also caused extensive damage in the area.
For nearly two months, Kamal Adwan Hospital has been under a strict siege by invading Israeli units, which have blocked the entry of medical supplies, food, staff, and ambulances, effectively preventing the hospital from operating normally. Abu Safiya had earlier confirmed that Israeli forces had directly targeted the facility, resulting in casualties among both patients and staff.

The medical chief called on human rights organizations and international institutions to take action now to save whatever can be saved as a result of the “repeated war crimes that have become a daily routine for the occupation.”
This comes after the number of Palestinian victims of the Israeli war of extermination, who were recorded, rose to 44,580 martyrs and 105,739 wounded, since October 7, 2023, according to the latest tally announced by the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip. Thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, amid the inability of ambulance and civil defense crews to reach them, due to the accumulation of rubble and the continuous Israeli targeting.
