The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) has reported on Saturday the arrival of a Saudi technical team in Tehran to pave the way for the reopening of the Saudi embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Mashhad.
The SPA confirmed that the team’s arrival in Tehran is in line with the joint tripartite agreement of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and China, and a continuation of what the two sides agreed upon during the talks session.
At the end of their talks in Beijing, the foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a joint statement, stipulating the initiation of arrangements to reopen embassies and consulates and to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation.
The statement also revealed that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian agreed with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to resume the exchange of visits by officials and private sector delegations.
The March 10 joint statement by Iran and Saudi Arabia announced the resumption of dialogue and diplomatic relations between the two nations, along with the reopening of their respective embassies within two months, in response to an initiative by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This move is a significant step towards bridging the divide between the two regional powers and fostering cooperation in various fields.
