Yemen army is preparing to start an offensive in Marib, in a bid to retake the province from Saudi-led forces who have been launching brutal aggression against the Arab impoverished country.
The Yemeni army, backed by popular committees, is to launch counter attacks in order to fully control Marib, army spokesman Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman told Sputnik.
Luqman noted that the Yemeni army and the committees control areas in Marib, stressing that they can retake the whole province.
“We have repelled more than 20 attacks by Saudi-led coalition forces,” the spokesman said, noting that the attacks were backed by air strikes.
“At the appropriate time we will retake Marib, entire Marib,” Luqman told the Russian multimedia service.
Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.
Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
However, Yemeni army, backed by the committees has been engaged in battles with Saudi-led mercenaries and Hadi’s militias in several areas across the country.
