Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that Moscow talks on Syria crisis aims at letting the "conflicting parties" discuss the different ways of reaching peace.

Lavrov added that the various Syrian factions did not set preconditions before participating in Moscow talks, noting that they all agree on ending the crisis and restoring peace and security.

The Russian top diplomat considered that Moscow talks should lead to internationally backed negotiations.

Syrian opposition figures were meeting in Moscow on Monday as part of a new Russia-coordinated bid to wind down the war in Syria, but few held out any hope of a breakthrough.
