Popular Forces Hit back at Carter: Iraq Neither for ISIL Nor for US

The commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, Hadi al-Ameri stressed that Iraq is neither for the ISIL Takfiri group, nor for the United States.

The commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces, Hadi al-Ameri stressed that Iraq is neither for the ISIL Takfiri group, nor for the United States.

Ameri's remarks were in response for US Defense Secretary General, Ashton Carter, who said his country would send 560 troops to Iraq as part of fight against ISIL.commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces, Hadi al-Ameri

Ameri refused Carter's remarks assuring that the Iraqi forces are capable of defending their country and liberating it from Takfiri terrorists.

"Let the world know that Iraqis are capable of liberating their country. As we liberated Beiji, Falluja and Qayyarah we will liberate Mosul," Ameri said in a statement.

"We firmly refuse the presence of US troops in Iraqi territories because the Iraqi people refuse to replace ISIL with the Americans," the PMF commander said in a statement.

"Our decision: Iraq is neither a place for ISIL nor for US."

Carter, who arrived in Baghdad earlier Monday, announced the US is sending 560 additional troops to Iraq as part of the stepped-up fight against the "cancer" of ISIL.

Most of the troops will be stationed at the recently recaptured Qarayyah airfield, which is about 25 miles south of Mosul.
