Lebanon: Qaa Bids Farewell to Suicide Attacks Martyrs

The funeral and burial of the five martyrs who fell on Monday in the terrorist suicide bombings in the town of Qaa ended, amidst climates of grief, sorrow and tears of their loved ones.

The five martyrs' coffins arrived at St Elias Church in the town, wrapped with the Lebanese flags, and prayers were held at the Church on their souls, in the presence of scores of the town's dignitaries, martyrs' families, and political and party officials.

MP Emile Rahme represented House Speaker, Nabih Berri, at the funeral, and Tourism Minister, Michel Pharoun, represented Prime Minister Tammam Salam. The Apostolic Nuncio Gabriel Caccia also attended the funeral.

In a word delivered in the name of Roman Catholic Patriarch Gregory III Laham, he emphasized that "we stand united with this blessed town as it is bidding farewell its martyrs.. And we remember the martyrs of the Lebanese war."

The bodies of the five martyrs were then carried to the town's cemetery where they were laid to rest.

The five victims are Majed Wehbi, Boulos al-Ahmar, George Fares, Faisal Aad and Joseph Louis.

Al-Qaa, situated only a few kilometers from the Syrian border, was rocked by eight suicide bombings Monday. The first four militants blew themselves up at dawn, while another four hit the town later that night.
