Russia: Two-day Ceasefire Begins in Syria’s Aleppo

A two-day "regime of calmness" was introduced in Syria’s largest city of Aleppo by Russia beginning from Thursday

A two-day "regime of calmness" was introduced in Syria's largest city of Aleppo by Russia beginning from Thursday, the Russian defense ministry said.

shellingIn a statement, the ministry added that a ceasefire was still in place in Daraya, a suburb of Damascus, and it was largely being observed.

The Russian center, based in Hmeimim airbase, said in a statement Wednesday that the number of towns that have joined a cessation of hostilities agreement has grown to 150, following singing agreements with activities of two towns in Aleppo and Daraa provinces.

The agreement, which came into effect on 27 February 2016, does not cover ISIL, Al-Nusra and other groups designated as terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council.
