BassilLebanese Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, met on Monday with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, over the ongoing preparations for the imminent meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG), to be held in Vienna, to discuss latest developments in the war-torn country.

"We want the talks to be constructive and fruitful in terms of clinching truce and accelerating the provision of humanitarian aids, in a way that complies with the efficacy of the inter-Syrian dialogue," the diplomat told reporters following the meeting.

"Normally, the Russian side will focus on a number of key points, such as the closure of the Turkish-Syrian borders in order to curb arm transfer, and the distinction among the factions taking part in the cease-fire, and terrorists," he said.

"We will also ask for the assessment of the humanitarian situation, to avoid the exertion of pressures of the Syrian government, but only because there really are anti-regime sides hindering the provision of aids," he explained.

"Other issues must be solved as well, just like the extension of the representation of the Syrian opposition, especially in terms of finding a solution to the issue of Kurds' participation," he continued, stressing on the peaceful solution to the Syrian conflict.
