Syrian army backed by National Defense Forces made fresh advances in Aleppo countryside on Thursday.

Battlefield commander in the Operations Room of the military operation in Aleppo said the allied forces were responding to ceasefire breaches carried out by terrorists who have been shelling residential areas in Aleppo.

"Fierce clashes are taking place in the front of Handarat camp in the northern countryside of Aleppo," the commander said.

The allied forces "managed to advance in the frontlines of the battle and control several posts there following a preparatory strikes that inflicted heavy losses upon the terrorists," the commander added.

He added that the fighting continues in several areas across the northern and the southern countryside of Aleppo.

The commander stressed that the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces will go ahead with the military operation until the full liberation of  Aleppo .
