Press service of the Russian Defense Ministry announced that teams of experts from the International Centre for Demining of the Russian armed forces have reached Humaimim air base in the countryside of Latakia, in order to join the demining task in vital facilities and the archaeological part of the city.

For its part, Syrian Interior Ministry stated that experts were transported by N-124 and Il-76 military transport aircrafts.

Earlier, a military source revealed that nearly a hundred Russian experts will be involved in Palmyra operation.

Moreover, archaeologists in Russia are offering help to rebuild Syria's ancient city of Palmyra following its recapture from the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri group.

Syrian government forces, backed by Russian air power, gained control of the city earlier this month after days of intense fighting, state media said.

Palmyra, known as the "bride of the desert", was a tourist attraction and had tens of thousands of tourists a year before the global war on Syria started in 2011.
