Muslims of Kuwait, both Sunni and Shia, prayed Friday prayer together at the Grand Mosque in the capital city, in a show of unity one week after a terrorist blast ripped through a Shia mosque in the country.

The emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and other security officials were present.

The suicide attack had targeted the Imam Sadiq Mosque last Friday, killed 27 worshippers and injured 202 others.

The terrorist attack was claimed by the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri group.
