Yemen’s Defense Minister Major-General Mohamed Nasser al-Atefi affirmed on Monday that the national army and popular committees managed to develop their defense abilities in a bid to confront the Saudi-led aggression against the Arab impoverished country.
During a graduation ceremony of western coast forces, al-Atefi the joint forces managed to change their strategy from defense to offense on the level of military and operational plans drawn up by the Ministry of Defense and Chief of Staff.
The Maj. Gen. stressed that the enemy will not achieve its ambitions and goals in Yemen, hailing the Yemeni people over their steadfastness and support offered to the army and popular committees.
On the Hodeidah agreement which was reached during UN-sponsored talks in Sweden last December, al-Attefi lashed out at the Saudi-led aggression for violating the deal.
“We extended our hands for peace according to the Sweden agreement, but the enemy exploited this deal for preparing to escalate attack on Hodeidah with large number of forces and various types of.”
On his part, the Head of Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi pointed to the importance of cultural and moral development of Yemeni armed forces based on national standards and constitutional frameworks that maintain the army that defends the national sovereignty.
He also praised the army and the popular committees over their heroic role in confronting the fiercest invasion ever on Yemen.
“Our heroes were able to storm the enemy’s outposts and destroy its weapons and modern equipment.”
