Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah al-Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah on Wednesday in Tehran.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister arrived in Tehran this morning for a short one-day visit aimed at improving relations by conferring with Iranian senior officials on bilateral and regional issues.
According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi, Sheikh Sabah will also convey Kuwaiti Emir’s message to President Rouhani.
One of Kuwait’s National Assembly officials also noted that the visit is an attempt to prepare the ground for holding joint talks between Iran and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
Sabah’s visit to Iran takes place just a day after establishment of a NATO regional office in Kuwait on Tuesday as its first regional center in the Gulf region.
